When Pakistan President Arif Alvi’s ‘Cryptic’ Posts Reminded Twitter Of Trump’s ‘Covfefe’ Gaffe

New Delhi: President Arif Alvi was all over Pakistan Twitter recently for his tweets that people struggled to decipher.

While a few of his tweets had only some characters from the alphabet, another seemed to be a collection of some randomly typed letters.

The tweets were soon removed from his timeline, but not before Pakistani Twitter had exploded with memes and posts mocking the president. The typos also reminded people of former US President Donald Trump’s famous “covfefe” gaffe from 2017, which went on to become a rage across the world.

Taking to Twitter, Adil Ansari, consultant to President Alvi, shared: “…he (Alvi) was out for his activity time & phone must’ve remained opened in pocket & thus the tweets.”

President @ArifAlvi is an active Twitter user & keeps himself aware of news events, chattering on certain topics etc from this very platform.

As a sports lover, he was out for his activity time & phone must’ve remained opened in pocket & thus the tweets.

Tweets are now DELETED.

The Twitterati, however, continued to take a dig at the president.

Even Dr Awab Alvi, Alvi’s son, could not resist a post on the tweets as he noted how the “gibberish pocket tweeting” triggered a “National Twitter crisis”.

Not the first time

President Alvi is quite prolific on social media and has been in the news before for his posts. He had once tweeted about watching Fifty Shades of Grey. The post was deleted recently.

He is also on Facebook, and had even created an official account on TikTok in June, just before Pakistan banned the Chinese app in the country. On his debut on TikTok, 71-year-old Alvi had said he is a “dreamer” who “sees light in everything”.

Alvi, a member of the ruling PTI, was elected president of the country in September 2018, soon after the Imran Khan government came to power.
