Visakhapatnam: With the second wave of COVID-19 in the country seeing a dip including many Southern states which has the major impact of late but for Andhra Pradesh. There is a huge leap in AP’s Covid curve, in the last few weeks of May. Around 2.3 lakh cases have recorded of which nearly 24,000 cases have been recorded among the age group below 18.
According to the Times of India, as many as 2,200 children below the age group of five have been infected. With Covid among children have been wreaking havoc in the state, especially in East Godavari and Chittoor districts, is being a growing concern of presumed third wave. The impact of Covid hasn’t been diminishing over the past few weeks in the state, there have been over 4,200 cases among children in the East Godavari district, which is a major hotspot. Both East and West Godavari districts have had the highest incidence of corona cases. Besides, around 3,800 Children developed Covid symptoms in the Chittoor district, which is termed as another biggest Covid cluster.

The medical experts in this region said that the symptoms in children are not as dreaded as it is shown up in adults. The infection is more likely to transmit to others when there is more exposure.
Meanwhile, the National Organisation for Scientific Communication and Policy Research (NISCPR), a new organization of the CSIR, has organized a video program. Speaking in the program, Dr. Somasekhar said, “Children are most vulnerable to this infection, only 1-2 per cent of kids need to be admitted in hospital and the symptoms in the rest won’t show up. Parents should be extra careful and should try as much as to keep them indoors.”
