Mumbai: Bollywood actor John Abraham condemned violence against animals after a man allegedly shot a stray dog using his riffle in Punjab’s Patiala district. The ‘Dostana’ actor expressed his anger over the incident and requested the citizens to raise their voice against animal cruelty.
The ‘Batla House’ star said that he is heartbroken to know about the brutal act committed in Punjab. He thanked the Punja Police for taking strict action against the accused.
“Heartbroken to report that last night a brutal act of animal violence was committed in Patiala, Punjab. I am extremely thankful to @asharmeet02 for raising an alarm about the cruel act & to the @PunjabPoliceInd @vikramduggalips for their stern action on the matter,” John tweeted.
“There is no excuse for animal cruelty or violence of any form. Speak up for those who can’t and set an example by condemning such horrific acts,” he further wrote on the micro-blogging site.
The accused Taranjot Singh shared the video of the incident on social media. He can be seen shooting the sleeping stray dog with a .12 bore rifle in the clip. Singh was arrested after a written complaint was lodged against him.
An FIR was registered against Taranjot under IPC Section 429 (mischief by killing animal) at Punjab’s Patran police station. He was also booked under different sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Talking about John Abraham, the actor will be next seen in ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’. The action drama was slated to hit the silver screens on May 13, 2021. However, the makers decided to postpone the release date due to the rise in number of COVID-19 cases.
Movie buffs were quite excited to witness a box office clash between John and Salman Khan. While ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’ is releasing on its scheduled date, ‘Satayameva Jayate 2’ will arrive in the cinema halls at a later date.
