New Delhi: Among the many launches for the upcoming Amazon Prime Day Sale, previously banned apparel app SHEIN will make a comeback through the e-commerce site.

SHEIN is a Chinese e-commerce application that offers a wide range of women’s apparel. After the ban of Chinese apps, SHEIN was one application that was dearly missed but has found a way back to India.

SHEIN is set to launch in India via Amazon during the upcoming Prime Day sale. Amazon is kicking off the Prime Day sale on July 26 and the two-day event will be live only till July 27. 

Last year, the Indian government announced a ban on several most-loved Chinese apps. Some of these have used their creativity to get back into the Indian market. 

While it did leave many fans terribly sad to see their favourite app go, PUBG eventually made a comeback in the form of Battlegrounds Mobile India for Android and will soon be released for IOS as well.

SHEIN was one of the first 59 Chinese applications that were banned in India. The list of apps included some really popular apps including TikTok, WeChat, SHEIN, Aliexpress, ShareIt, UC Browser, among others. 

These applications were banned back in June, 2020, by the Ministry of Information Technology under section 69A of the Information Technology Act.

Researchers at IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, have developed the best and working technique for the potato cultivators, now they can detect crop failure through photos. Researchers have prepared a computer app with a complex computational model, which will be able to detect blight disease using photographs of the potato leaves. Its disease is detected after careful examination. But now after this new technology, just the photos of the leave will help detect whether the crop is diseased or not. By taking a photo of diseased-looking leaves with this app, this app will confirm in real-time whether the leaf is getting damaged or not. Now, Krafton has given a major update for iOS users. Although there has been no official announcement regarding the release date of BGMI for iOS devices.

In a major development, Krafton has confirmed that it will release Battlegrounds Mobile India for iPhone users as well but the wait will just have to be a little longer. The Android version was launched on July 2.

Meanwhile, replying to an FAQ – “Does Krafton have a release planning for IOS version?” – in the game’s feedback section, the developer said, “New updates will be released on our official website and social networks, so please stay tuned for further news.”

Los Angeles/London: The free and open internet is under attack around the world, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has warned, asserting that many countries are restricting the flow of information and the model is often taken for granted.

In an in-depth interview with the BBC at the Google headquarters at Silicon Valley in California, the tech boss covered a wide range of topics, including the threat to free and open internet, and also narrowed down on two developments that he feels will further revolutionise the world over the next quarter of a century as artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing.

Pichai, 49, who was born in Tamil Nadu and grew up in Chennai, has said India is deeply rooted in him and a big part of who he is.

“I’m an American citizen but India is deeply within me. So it’s a big part of who I am,” he said, when asked about his roots. Pichai also addressed the controversies around tax, privacy and data. He argued artificial intelligence was more profound than fire, electricity or the internet.

“I view it [artificial intelligence] as the most profound technology that humanity will ever develop and work on. You know, if you think about fire or electricity or the internet, it’s like that. But I think even more profound,” said Pichai, the CEO of Google and its parent company Alphabet.

Pichai, the chief executive of one of the most complex, warned the free and open internet is under attack in countries around, the report said, adding that he said many countries are restricting the flow of information, and the model is often taken for granted.

When asked about whether the Chinese model of the internet based on surveillance is in the ascendant, Pichai said the free and open internet “is being attacked”. While he didn’t refer to China directly, he said: “None of our major products and services are available in China.”

On the controversial issue of tax, he said: ?We are one of the world’s largest taxpayers, if you look at on average over the last decade, we have paid over 20 per cent in taxes.

“We do pay the majority of our share of taxes in the US, where we originate and where our products are developed. I think there are good conversations and we support the global OECD conversations figuring out what is the right way to allocate taxes, this is beyond a single company to solve,” he said.

He was also asked about his own personal tech habits and encouraged everyone to adopt “two-factor authentication” when it comes to passwords to ensure multiple protections and admitted he is constantly changing his phone to test out new technology.

Pichai is universally regarded as an exceptionally kind, thoughtful, and caring leader, the report said.

Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp has been working on a lot of new features which will be launched at the end of this year. 

One of the features is multi-device support which will allow users to use their account on more than a single device. This feature is aimed at helping those who work from home so that they can connect with their colleagues.

South Korean smartphone maker Samsung is set to host the Galaxy Unpacked event next month. Ahead of the event, new leaks have revealed the device lineup in GIF images, which includes two new Galaxy foldables, a Galaxy FE phone, two Galaxy Watches and a set of new Galaxy Buds.

According to noted social media leaker Evan Blass, who took to Twitter to announce that the Samsung event is set to take place on August 11.

Blass shared images of Galaxy Z Fold 3 in white, green and black colours. Galaxy Z Fold 3 may support the S Pen stylus.

He also tweeted Galaxy Z Flip 3 in purple, black, gold and green colours.

As per a recent report, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will feature an under-display camera and support the S-Pen stylus. Its next clamshell foldable Galaxy Z Flip3 is expected to have a bigger outer display.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is expected to feature a larger external display of 1.83 inches. It has a dual-camera system, which reportedly includes a 12MP main snapper and a 12MP ultrawide snapper.

The inner screen of the Z Flip3 may feature a punch-hole design with a 10MP selfie camera.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 is rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset.

Both foldable products are expected to have a lighter weight with a cheaper price than their predecessors.

Blass` thread also showed GIFs of a mid-range Samsung Galaxy S21 FE device in four colours.

In another tweet, Blass shared GIFs of two new Samsung watches that are likely to run the joint smartwatch platform by Google-Samsung.

The Galaxy Watch Active 4 may come in 44mm and 40mm sizes.

Galaxy Buds 2 are likely to have active noice cancellation and Blass showed that buds in gray, purple and white colours.

E-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc`s online store was grappling with widespread outages on Sunday night, according to outage monitoring website Downdetector, the second broad disruption to services since late June.

Its online store showed error messages on several regional domains. Reuters could not access product listing on its domains including, the United States, India, Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Singapore.

“We`re sorry that some customers may be experiencing issues while shopping. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the issue,” an Amazon spokesperson said.

As of 0400 GMT, some of the domains were back up. Amazon did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the extent of the recovery in services.

More than 38,000 user reports indicated issues with Amazon`s online store site, while nearly 500 users reported problems with the Amazon Web Services, according to Downdetector.

About 80% of the issues reported were with its website, while 15% were with log-ins and 5% with its check-out services, according to Downdetector.

Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from a series of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform. The outage could have affected a larger number of users.

In June, multiple users experienced a brief outage on Amazon platforms including Alexa and Prime Video before services were restored.

A twin-fuselage jet took off on Sunday carrying a Virgin Galactic rocket plane primed to soar more than 50 miles above the New Mexico desert with British billionaire Richard Branson aboard in the vehicle`s first fully crewed test flight to space.

Branson, one of six Virgin Galactic Holding Inc employees strapping in for the flight, has touted the mission as a precursor to a new era of space tourism, with the company he founded poised to begin commercial operations next year.

Sunday`s high-altitude launch of the VSS Unity rocket plane marks the company`s 22nd test flight of its SpaceShipTwo system, and its fourth crewed mission beyond Earth’s atmosphere. It is also the first to carry a full complement of space travelers – two pilots and four “mission specialists,” Branson among them.

A week away from his 71st birthday, Branson and his crewmates walked onto the tarmac of New Mexico’s Spaceport America waving to a throng of onlookers before boarding waiting Unity rocket plane parked at the end of a taxiway.

Video posted online by Virgin Galactic showed Branson earlier arriving at the spaceport on his bicycle and greeting his crewmates with a hug.

A festive gathering of space industry executives, future customers and other well-wishers were on hand to witness the launch event, which was livestreamed in a presentation introduced by late-night television host Stephen Colbert. Among those present was fellow billionaire and space industry pioneer Elon Musk, who also is founder of electric carmaker Tesla Inc.

Grammy-nominated R&B singer Khalid was due to take the stage after the flight to perform a forthcoming single “New Normal.”

The gleaming white spaceplane was borne aloft attached to the underside of a specially designed twin-fuselage carrier jet VMS Eve – named for Branson`s late mother, which took off at around 10:40 a.m. EDT (1430 GMT). 

Separating from the mothership when it reaches an altitude of 50,000 feet, Unity`s rocket engine will then ignite to send the spaceplane streaking straight upward to the blackness of space some 55 miles (88.5 km) high, where the crew will experience about four minutes of microgravity.

With the engine shut down near the peak of its climb, the craft will then be shifted into re-entry mode before gliding back to a runway landing at the spaceport. The entire flight, from takeoff to touchdown, should take about 90 minutes.

Assuming the mission goes well, Virgin has plans for two further test flights of the spaceplane in the months ahead before beginning regular commercial operation in 2022.
This is no discount travel service. But demand is apparently strong, with several hundred wealthy would-be citizen astronauts already having booked reservations, priced at around $250,000 per ticket.

The Swiss-based investment bank UBS has estimated the potential value of the space tourism market reaching $3 billion annually by 2030.

Proving rocket travel safe for the public is key, given the inherent dangers of spaceflight.

An earlier prototype of the Virgin Galactic rocket plane crashed during a test flight over California`s Mojave Desert in 2014, killing one pilot and seriously injuring another.

Branson`s participation in Sunday`s flight, announced just over a week ago, is in keeping with his persona as the daredevil executive whose Virgin brands – from airlines to music companies – have long been associated with ocean-crossing exploits in sailboats and hot-air balloons.

SPACE RACE

His ride-along also upstages rival astro-tourism venture Blue Origin and its founder, Amazon mogul Jeff Bezos, in what has been popularized as the “billionaire space race.”

Bezos has been planning to fly aboard his own suborbital rocket ship, the New Shepard, later this month.

Branson has insisted he and Bezos are friendly rivals and not engaged in a personal contest to beat one another into space.

Bezos posted a message on Instagram on Saturday wishing Branson and his team good luck and “a successful and safe flight,” but nonetheless there has been some public rancor between the two.

Blue Origin has disparaged Virgin Galactic as falling short of a true spaceflight experience, saying that unlike Unity, Bezos`s New Shepard tops the 62-mile-high-mark (100 km), called the Kármán line, set by an international aeronautics body as defining the boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and space.

“New Shepard was designed to fly above the Kármán line so none of our astronauts have an asterisk next to their name,” Blue Origin said in a series of Twitter posts on Friday.
However, US space agency NASA and the US Air Force both define an astronaut as anyone who has flown higher than 50 miles (80 km).

A third player in the space race, Musk’s SpaceX, plans to send its first all-civilian crew (without Musk) into orbit in September, after having already launched numerous cargo payloads and astronauts to the International Space Station for NASA.

Branson`s official role in Sunday`s test flight is to “evaluate the private astronaut experience,” according to Virgin`s press materials.

The spaceplane`s two pilots, Dave Mackay and Michael Masucci, will control the ignition and shutoff of the ship`s rocket engine, activation of the vehicle`s “feathered” tail maneuver for re-entry and steer the craft back to its runway.

The three other mission specialists are Beth Moses, the company’s chief astronaut instructor; Virgin Galactic`s lead operations engineer Colin Bennett; and Sirisha Bandla, a research operations and government affairs vice president.

Ecommerce giant Amazon India will come up with the Prime Day sale on July 26 and July 27.  Amazon Prime Day 2021 already started on June 21 in many countries such as the US, the UK, Turkey, Spain, and Singapore. Samsung

Samsung is also planning to give discounts on the Prime Day 2021 sale. This includes the Galaxy M31s and Galaxy M51. Under crazy deals, Galaxy M31 and Galaxy M12 have been listed. The Galaxy M42 5G, Galaxy M11 and last year’s Galaxy Note 20 will also be available with discounts.

Apple iPhones will also be sold at discounted rates. While iPhone 11 will be priced below Rs 50,000 on Amazon Prime Day 2021, iPhone 12 Pro has also been teased to be available with discounts. Other iPhones will also be sold at lesser prices.

Separating from the carrier jet at an altitude of 50,000 feet, Unity`s pilots will ignite its rocket engine to send the spaceplane streaking in a near-vertical climb to the blackness of space some 55 miles high, where the crew will experience about 4 minutes of microgravity.

The vehicle`s engine will then be shut down, and the craft will be shifted into re-entry mode and make a gliding descent to a runway at the spaceport. The entire flight, from takeoff to landing, should take about 90 minutes.

Branson`s official role is to “evaluate the private astronaut experience,” and his observations will be used to “enhance the journey for all future astronaut customers,” according to Virgin`s press materials.

A fresh case leak on Weibo puts more confidence in the expectations. Multiple cases belonging to the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini were leaked on Weibo, and shared by DuanRai on Twitter, showing massive differences between the iPhone 12`s optical lens size.

The case on the Chinese microblogging website was added by a tipster who goes by the name `Old Explosion Technology` who used measuring tools to ascertain the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini camera lens size differences.

The Weibo tipster suggested that Apple may use an equivalent iPhone 12 Pro Max sensor within the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. This creates an opportunity that the less costly versions of the iPhone 13 lineup also support `Sensor-Shift Optical Image Stabilization`, as mentioned during a previous report.

Reportedly, this hardware addition is currently exclusive to the iPhone 12 Pro Max but might not be for long. If these features will be rolled out by Apple in the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13, then it will not just tout improved stabilization in various lighting conditions, but the larger sensors within the cameras will enable sharper image and video capture.

The lens cutout is also assumed to be very large in comparison to the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini, in the upcoming lineup that is slated to be announced during the third week of September.

Journalists should also give links to the author page/bio or to articles that reference them on the news organisation’s official site. Independent/freelance journalists must provide links to three articles published in verified publications in the past six months before applying.

Kaspersky researchers conducted an in-depth study on nine popular dating apps to basically analyse how safe they were and what they found was interesting.

Kaspersky took nine popular and highly rated dating apps for its research- Tinder, Bumble, OkCupid, Mamba, Pure, Feeld, Her, Happn, and Badoo. While in 2017, 4 out of these 9 apps intercepted data sent from the app and used the unencrypted HTTP protocol, 2021 brought a drastic change in the situation as none of these apps used HTTP, and no data is sent if the protocol is not secure.

Almost all the dating apps let users register their account with one of their social networking sites, like Instagram, Facebook, Spotify, etc and their profile is automatically populated after taking information from their social media profiles.

Besides that, users are also asked to share information about their place of work or university. This entire process makes it easier for people to find dating app users’ social media accounts along with personal information.

Besides that, some of the apps like Happn, Her, Bumble, and Tinder make it mandatory for users to give details about their location. 

This personal information’s access such as users’ location, place of work, name, contact information, etc. creates an opportunity for online stalking, and then there are concerns over the data-stealing as well. 

Now, irrespective of the dating app you choose to use, there are certain things you can do to stay safe:

• It is advisable to not share too much personal information (last name, employer, photos with friends, political views, etc) in your profile
• Do not tie other social media accounts to your profile
• Select your location manually, if possible
• Use two-factor authentication, if possible
• Delete or hide your profile if you are no longer using the app
• Use the built-in messenger in dating apps. It’s better to move to other messengers only if you trust your match. If you finally decide to do so, set up the chat in a way that keeps your private info secure.
