New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with four Chief Ministers in separate phone calls on Saturday to discuss the coronavirus situation in their respective states.
He talked to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur.

In the last three days, PM Modi has spoken with 10 Chief Ministers and two Lieutenant Governors to seek details about the pandemic situation in states and union territories.
CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted to inform about his interaction with PM Modi stating that he “apprised him of the current situation in Madhya Pradesh and explained the continuously declining positivity rate and fast-growing recovery rate. I also shared with him the efforts made by the State Government.
He added that he talked to the Prime Minister about the state government’s measures including the Janata Curfew, ‘Kill Corona’ campaign and the government’s efforts to build Covid care centers, temporary Covid hospitals, and other public awareness campaigns.
The Madhya Pradesh CM also discussed in detail the supply of Remedesivir, availability and supply of medical oxygen, and new oxygen plants being built in the state. The Prime also sought details about the progress of the ongoing vaccination campaign in the state.
Thanking the Prime Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan wrote that he expressed satisfaction over the efforts of the Madhya Pradesh government and assured all possible help from the union government
Madhya Pradesh had reported 11,708 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the total tally to over 6.49 lakh.
Similarly, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur also informed that he apprised the Prime Minister about the Covid situation in the state.
“We informed the Prime Minister about all the work being done by the State Government for the convenience of Covid patients including oxygen supply, capacity of beds in hospitals, vaccination campaign,” he wrote. He followed this by thanking the Prime Minister for assuring all possible help.
Himachal Pradesh had reported 4,177 Covid-19 cases on Friday, pushing its total caseload to over 1.22 lakh. 56 Covid fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra, the state that has faced the worst of Covid pandemic, is currently among those seeing a plateauing of fresh infections, the Union Health Ministry informed on Friday. It reported 54,022 new cases in the last 24 hours along with 898 fatalities.
Besides this, Tamil Nadu joined the list of states to undergo a complete lockdown, starting May 10. The decision for a 2-week lockdown came after the state recorded 26,465 new Covid-19 cases in the biggest single-day spike so far.
