Ravindra Jadeja, regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the Indian cricket team, has been in great form since the 2016-17 season and has cemented his place as a regular in the national squad, across all three formats.
The Saurashtra-born star player, who made debut in international cricket in 2009, played his maiden ODI World Cup in 2015 but was struggling to deliver his best. He didn’t score many runs while batting down the order but managed to bag 9 wickets from 8 games.

In an interview with the Indian Express, Jadeja recently revealed how then captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni helped him turn it around. Ravindra Jadeja said, “I remember he said that I was trying to hit shots against balls I shouldn’t be attempting. Shot selection was something I also felt I was doing wrong. My judgement at the start wasn’t right. I would be in double mind. ‘Should I go for the shot, or no?’ These days, I like to take my time and I am clearer in my mind. I know I can always cover up the runs later. That change in thinking has helped.”
“About bouncers, yes when you hit a six against short ones, the confidence increases. I never had a problem against bouncers – as in I don’t remember getting out too many times to it or thinking I can’t play it. It was about the selection of shots and my balance,” he signed off.
MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja were seen playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021. CSK was performing remarkably well under Dhoni’s captaincy before the tournament was postponed by the BCCI and the yellow army finished second in the IPL 2021 Points Table.
