In a fresh input on the repatriation of fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choski, a team of multi-agency experts, led by a CBI DIG, has reached Dominica to bring back the businessman if the court in the Caribbean allows his deportation to India.
The team consists of two members of the CBI and officials of the other agencies, as per the sources of news agency PTI. As per the agency, the officers are coordinating with the local prosecutors to present a strong case in India’s favour before the high court.

The team is arguing that Choksi continues to be an Indian citizen with an Interpol Red Notice against him.
While the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) had restrained Choksi’s deportation until further order and posted the matter for hearing on Tuesday.
The absconding businessman had gone missing on 23 May from Antigua and Barbuda, where he has been staying since 2018 as a citizen. Later the businessman was detained in neighbouring Dominica for illegal entry after a possible romantic escapade with his rumoured girlfriend.
Meanwhile, his lawyers alleged that he was kidnapped from Jolly Harbour in Antigua by policemen looking like Antiguan and Indian and brought to Dominica on a boat. His pictures emerged from Dominica having red swollen eyes and body marks.
A habeas corpus petition was filed in the Dominica court by Choksi’s legal team which is awaiting a response from Dominica police after which it will decide whether Choksi will be bailed out or he’ll be sent back to Antigua to prison. According to his counsel Vijay Aggarwal, it is almost ruled out that he will come to India.
