The second wave of Covid-19 continues to wreak havoc across the country. So far, many cricketers and other sports personalities have lost their loved ones due to the pandemic. In another heart-breaking news, Shiv Prasad Singh, father of former India fast bowler RP Singh, passed away on Wednesday due to Coronavirus. RP Singh’s father was ill for a long time and had tested positive for Coronavirus few weeks back. He was undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow.
The former Indian cricketer had a couple of days ago condoled the death of his former teammate Piyush Chawla’s father. Indian cricket team’s former spinner Piyush Chawla’s father Pramod Kumar had died of Coronavirus on Monday. He was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Delhi.
Cricketer-turned-commentator RP Singh, who is also a World Cup winner, had withdrawn his name from IPL 2021 as a commentator after his father tested Coronavirus positive.
RP Singh retired from cricket in the year 2018. After this, he joined the Hindi commentary panel of Star Sports for this year’s IPL. Apart from RP Singh, Akash Chopra, Parthiv Patel, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, Deep Dasgupta were part of Star Sports’ Hindi commentary team for IPL 14. However, due to rising Covid-19 cases inside the IPL bio-bubble, the T20 League had to be suspended midway.
