New Delhi: The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference on Sunday and said that after implementing the lockdown from April 26th, cases in the national capital have reduced and the positivity rate of the city came down from 35 per cent to 26 per cent.
Kejriwal said that the govt utilized the lockdown period to improve medical infrastructure and aimed at increasing the number of beds. The Delhi govt in collaboration with the central govt is trying to overcome the oxygen shortage which the capital was facing for the last few weeks.
Kejriwal reiterated the issue of vaccine shortage in the city and appealed to the centre to provide an adequate amount of vaccines.
The Delhi Chief Minister said that though the cases have reduced, the brutal Covid wave is disastrous, therefore Delhi will continue to be under lockdown till 17th May, 5 am.
Kejriwal said that this lockdown will be stricter and Delhi Metro will be shut.
Delhi recorded 332 more covid-19 deaths and 17,364 new infections today. This is the fifth time in the last six days that the number of new covid-19 cases remained below 20,000.
The infection tally rose to 13,10,231, out of which over 12.03 lakh have recovered. The positivity rate stood at 23.34%.
The death toll rose 19,021, while there are 87,907 active cases, the bulletin said.
