Paris: In a shocking turn of events, Roger Federer has decided to opt-out of the ongoing grand slam, French Open 2021 due to multiple knee injuries. He informed about the same in a tweet.
Roger Federer tweeted: “After two knee surgeries and over a year of rehabilitation it’s important that I listen to my body and make sure I don’t push myself too quickly on my road to recovery. I am thrilled to have gotten three matches sunder my belt. There is no greater feeling than getting back on the court. See you, everyone, soon!”
This means that Federer will not win the record-breaking 21st grand slam and Rafael Nadal has the chance to go past the Swiss.
“I don’t know if I am going to play,” Federer had said after Saturday night’s win. “I have to decide whether or not to continue playing. Is it too risky to keep putting pressure on the knee? Is it a good time to rest?”
