Witnessing a continuous spread of deadly Coronavirus in the state, Haryana government has decided to extend lockdown for one week. As per the latest announcement, the lockdown restrictions will remain effective from May 10 to May 17. Under ‘Surkshit Haryana’, stringent measures will be taken to contain spread of COVID-19 in Haryana.
News agency ANI quoted Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij saying, “Surkshit Haryana announced from May 10 to May 17. Stringent measures will be taken to contain spread of COVID-19 in Haryana. Detailed order to be issued soon.”

Earlier, the state government imposed week-long complete longdown from May 3 till Sunday, May 9. During this period, the government urged the residents to stay indoors. Several restrictions put in place including imposition of prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC and daily night curfew.
While a detailed order of the lockdown extension is awaited, Haryana on Sunday reported 151 more COVID-19 related fatalities, taking the death toll to 5,605. As many as 13,548 fresh cases of Covid-19 were lodged taking the infection count to 6,15,897. As per the bulletin, the number of active cases in the state is 1,16,867.
