New Delhi: Asserting it is “against humanity if any patient suffers due to lack of oxygen” while battling Covid-19, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of playing petty politics over availability of oxygen in Delhi.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra asked as to why the Centre would adopt a different approach towards Delhi if the ruling dispensation can give oxygen to Maharashtra and other states.
“It’s against humanity if any patient suffers due to lack of oxygen. But there should be no politics over it. If the Government of India can give oxygen to Maharashtra and other states, why do you (Delhi Govt) think that GoI is adopting a different approach towards Delhi?” ANI quoted Patra as saying.
Launching a vitriolic attack on the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Delhi, the BJP leader alleged “Kejriwal spent Rs 804.93 crores on advertisements since 2015 but did not open a single hospital during his seven-year rule”.
“Before forming his government, Kejriwal had promised to add 30,000 new hospital beds,” added Patra.
The BJP leader’s outburst came as Kejriwal earlier stated Delhi has solely five days of vaccine inventory left and underlined the necessity for extra doses i.e. 85 lakh every month for the following three months.

“To administer 80-85 lakh vaccines each month, we have to administer 3 lakh vaccines day by day… We can simply improve our capability to three lakh vaccines per day, there is no such thing as a drawback with this. Now that we now have begun the preparations, we all know methods to proceed and are going to hold this out within the subsequent few days,” Kejriwal said.
“In truth, greater than this shall be essential since individuals from NCR and different neighbouring areas are coming to Delhi to get vaccinated. So, we are going to want much more vaccines than what I have already talked about. However, the minimal requirement of Delhi should be met with. To defend ourselves from the third wave, being utterly vaccinated is crucial,” he added.
