Mumbai: Suspended cop Sachin Vaze, presently in the custody of the National Investigating Agency (NIA) in connection with the Antilia bomb scare case and Mansukh Hiren death case, has been dismissed from service, Mumbai Police on Tuesday said.
“API Sachin Waze has been dismissed from Police service with immediate effect. The order of dismissal has been issued under Article 311(2)(B) of the Constitution of India,” Mumbai Police posted on its official Twitter handle.
The special court in Mumbai had earlier this month extended the judicial custody of Waze and another suspended assistant inspector Riyazuddin Kazi till May 19. The duo have been arrested in the Ambani terror scare case by the NIA and booked on charges, including criminal conspiracy, murder and sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
Earlier in February, an explosives-laden Scorpio was found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s house in south Mumbai with a threat letter inside. A Thane-based businessman Mansukh Hiran, who was in possession of the SUV, had claimed that it had been stolen a week earlier but the case got murky when he was found dead in a creek in Thane on March 5.

An investigation into the matter led the Maharashtra ATS to Vaze, who had been reinstated to the Mumbai Police after facing a suspension that lasted more than 15 years.
Vaze had in a handwritten statement to the NIA accused former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh of demanding Rs two crore from him to retain him in the police force. Deshmukh resigned last month in the wake of the allegations and the Enforcement Directorate has registered money laundering case against him.
