Erode: Villagers of Olalakkoil panchayat in Erode district of Tamil Nadu have self-imposed lockdown restrictions to break the chain of Covid spread in their respective villages.
Villagers Chinnachettiyapalayam, Nallakattipalayam, and Malayapalayam unitedly decided that they will not open shops until the Covid cases dip down.
After talking to the village heads and political party functionaries, one of the villagers, named S. Govindan said that they will start on June 9 and will stick to it until cases godown.
The villagers decided to confine themselves after they witnessed pandemic affecting people in their villages who are mostly farmers and weavers.
Another resident, V. Suresh said, “We have decided to close all the shops, companies, and factories, we take severe action with help of local govt. officials if any disobey the decision,” he said.
People in these villages are being requested through leaflets to follow lockdown rules and support cut down the Covid cases in the locality. Daily essentials like medical and vegetable stores, petrol pumps, and dairies will be functional till noon during the self-imposed curfew
